Fast, Reliable Window Replacement Across Mentone
Window replacement in Mentone runs $640 – $1,850 per opening for most single-family homes, depending on frame condition, glass type, and whether the job needs a county permit. Our Window Replacement team works throughout Mentone year-round, from the Craftsman bungalows near Mentone Boulevard up to the ranch-style acreage off Greenspot Road and Opal Avenue. Elliot Vance leads every project with the same rule: the price goes on paper before any work starts, and it does not move at the door. Call (831) 217-8612 to schedule a free estimate.
Why Meridian Windows and Doors Riverside Is Mentone’s Preferred Window Replacement Company
Mentone is unincorporated San Bernardino County. That sounds like a detail, but it changes how window replacement gets done. County permitting, septic and well setbacks, long dirt driveways for equipment access, detached shops and ADUs with undocumented openings. We also handle Mentone Patio Door Installation when those openings need more than windows. We scope all of it before quoting, so the written number you get is the number you pay. Dispatch and scheduling are coordinated from our Inland Empire office, and crews serve Mentone directly.
We hold every installation to The Garrison Standard, a code the crew actually follows. Floor protection on every job. Daily cleanup. A straight answer when something costs more. And the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every window we install in Mentone: if it fails within a year, we come back at no charge. Written, not verbal.
Window Pane Replacement in Mentone
Window pane replacement in Mentone typically runs $180 – $420 per pane for standard insulated glass, and climbs to $640 – $980 per sash when the frame itself needs rebuilding around that old jalousie or single-pane wood assembly. A county inspector on acreage will care about more than the glass: if a pane replacement exposes a rotted sill or an undocumented opening on a converted shed, the scope expands fast. We tell you that before the first pane comes out.
When Pane Replacement Is the Right Call
A cracked pane on a newer vinyl window usually means a straight pane swap. On a 1950s wood double-hung, the glass may be fine while the glazing putty and stops have failed. We look at both before recommending anything. If the sash is sound, a pane replacement keeps the job small and the price down.
Panes, Frames, and County Eyes
On Mentone acreage, a visible pane replacement can trigger a look at the whole window assembly during an inspection. If the frame is original and the opening was never documented, a county inspector may flag it. We stage the work so that what gets opened matches what the permit says gets opened. No surprises for you, no re-work for us.
Window Seal Repair in Mentone
Window seal repair in Mentone is most common on dual-pane units where the seal has failed and moisture or dust has fogged the glass. On older ranch-style homes, a failed seal usually shows up as permanent haze between the panes after a hot Mentone summer, when the argon or krypton gas escapes and the two glass surfaces press inward. We replace the sealed unit, not the whole frame: $140 – $310 for most residential sashes, $350 – $550 when the frame is rotted and needs structural repair before the new unit can seat.
Cloudy Glass, Warped Sash
Seal failure doesn’t always mean the glass is bad. Sometimes the sash itself has warped from years of direct sun and Santa Ana pressure, and no new seal will hold. We check the frame square before we order glass. If the sash is out of line, you hear it from us before the order goes in.
Mentone Dust and Failed Seals
The same winds that rattle jalousies also drive fine dust against window gaskets. Once a seal fails, that dust works its way between the panes and the unit is done. On homes near the wash corridors off Opal Avenue and Crafton Avenue, we see this more than anywhere else in the county. The fix is a properly seated insulated unit, not a caulk job.
Trusted Brands We Service in Mentone
Our crews install and replace products from PGT, CGI, CWS, and ES Windows, and we know which of those belongs in Mentone. PGT impact-rated casements make sense on open acreage where wind loads are unblocked. CWS dual-pane sliders work well on mid-century ranches with wide openings. CGI laminated units are the right call when there is a detached ADU or shop near the house. We stock local parts in our Inland Empire yard, so wait times on common hardware are short.
Common Window Replacement Problems We See in Mentone Homes
- Original jalousie windows that cannot seal. The louvered glass on 1940s-50s homes rattles constantly in Santa Ana winds and invites dust straight through the openings. They are prime candidates for full replacement with insulated, impact-rated units.
- County permit gaps on acreage. Septic and well setback verification can surface late in a project if not scoped early. We pull county records before quoting, so a permit does not become a surprise add-on.
- Long dirt driveways and mangled deliveries. Heavy glass units staged at the wrong spot get dropped or scratched before install. We stage equipment and materials once, close to the opening, with a clear path for the haul.
- Undocumented shed or ADU window openings. Unpermitted conversions with non-standard window rough openings fail county inspection. We measure and document every opening before quoting, and flag any that need framing correction first.

FAQs About Window Replacement in Mentone
Yes. Mentone is unincorporated San Bernardino County, so most full-frame and structural window replacements require a county building permit, especially when you’re on septic and well rather than city sewer. The county verifies that new window openings stay out of required septic tank and well setback zones. We pull county records and check setback maps before we quote, so the permit and any required site verification are in the written price before work starts. Call (831) 217-8612 for an exact quote.
Yes. Impact-rated windows built to hurricane-coast Building Code standards resist windborne debris and hold their frame under sustained wind pressure. In Mentone, we recommend PGT or CGI units with a large-missile rating for homes on open acreage or west-facing exposures that catch the full Santa Ana channel. They also reduce wind-driven dust intrusion, which is a constant problem for older jalousie and single-pane windows. Call (831) 217-8612 to talk through what your house actually needs.
We treat every detached structure as its own scope. That means measuring each window rough opening, checking whether the opening was ever permitted, and confirming setbacks from the main house, well, and septic lines. If an opening was undocumented, we tell you what county inspection will likely require before we write the quote. The work is covered by the same written 365-Day Done Right Promise as the main house. Call (831) 217-8612 for a free estimate.
Yes. Low-E glass is a thin metallic coating that reflects heat while letting visible light through. On a Mentone summer day above 100°F, single-pane jalousies transfer heat almost freely; insulated low-E units block a large share of that solar gain. On a 1940s ranch with ten or twelve original openings, the cooling difference is measurable. We give you the glass spec in writing so you can show your utility provider. Call (831) 217-8612 for a quote.
Some do, but California is not as standardized as the hurricane coast. Many insurers offer premium credits for impact-rated windows and doors, especially in high-wind corridors like the San Bernardino foothills. We provide the manufacturer documentation and rating stamps your insurer will ask for. Ask your agent. Then call (831) 217-8612 and we’ll spec the right rating for the house.
